Lamar teen arrested after shooting

An 18-year-old from Lamar was arrested after a shooting in Lamar Thursday night. Read the full press release below:

On Thursday, officers with the Lamar Police Department, were dispatched to Cox Barton County Hospital in reference to 24-year-old Bryan Townsend of Lamar who had been shot. Townsend was later transported to a Joplin hospital for further treatment. His injuries are non-life threatening.

The investigation led to the crime scene in the 1200 block of Grand in Lamar. During the scope of the investigation, 18-year-old Phillip Boyd Jr. was taken into custody for the shooting. Boyd is being held at the Barton County Jail pending formal charges through the Barton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

At this time, the weapon has not been located.
