Missouri files suit against People’s Republic of China
The State of Missouri is suing the People’s Republic of China.
The suit, filed by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmidt in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, accuses the Chinese government, the Chinese Communist Party and other officials of suppressing crucial information, destroying medical research, and permitting millions of people worldwide, including Missourians, to be exposed to the virus.
“The Chinese government lied to the world about the danger and contagious nature of COVID-19, silenced whistle-blowers, and did little to stop the spread of the disease,” Schmidt’s suit states
“They must be held accountable for their actions,” the suit states.
At least seven other private groups have filed similar suit.
The suit in Missouri also accuses the Chinese of hoarding personal protective equipment (PPEs).
