Jasper County Sheriff dispel “wellness check” rumor

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is dispelling a rumor regarding wellness checks during the coronavirus pandemics. Read their statement below:

We were just contacted by the media, who received a social media post message claiming the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is doing a checkpoint near Joplin conducting “wellness checks” and asking people why they are out traveling.

Evidently this false allegation originated from someone’s Facebook post.

We are not, and will not be do anything like this. The Jasper County does not stop people for a “wellness check”.
