Pittsburg man arrested after allegedly shooting, killing father

A man from Pittsburg was arrested after he allegedly fatally shot his father. Read the full press release below:

On April 5, 2020, at approximately 2151 hours, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident at 1313 West Atkinson, Pittsburg Kansas. The caller, identified as Michael J. Woodson, reported that he had just shot his father. Officers responded to the residence and upon arrival located Woodson who was placed under arrest.

A deceased male victim was located inside the house. The victim was identified as 53-year-old David M. Buckley of Pittsburg. The Crawford County Deputy Coroner responded to the scene. The body was transported to Kansas City for autopsy. Woodson was transported to the Crawford County Jail where he was subsequently booked in on Murder in the 1st degree. The investigation is ongoing.

Michael Woodson is presumed innocent unless and until the allegations against him are proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Pittsburg PD, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Crawford County EMS responded to the scene.
