Missouri recruiting medical personnel for COVID-19 assistance team
Missouri is asking medical professionals who are not working to join a specialized state team to respond to critical health emergencies during the coronavirus outbreak. Governor Mike Parson says selected medical workers would become part of the Missouri Disaster Medical Assistance Team.
“Medical professionals and first responders across this state are working tirelessly to meet the rising challenges posed by COVID-19,” says Parson. “But we know additional medical professionals are in high need.”
Individuals are needed with a background in medicine, nursing, allied health, dentistry, biomedicine, laboratory science, logistics and communications. The state is asking health care students, retired medical workers or those whose professional registration recently expired to apply online.
Medical personnel from the team have already deployed to Golden Valley Hospital in west-central Missouri’s Clinton and Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
