Update: Joplin Stabbing Victim and Suspect Identified
A Good Samaritan was stabbed confronting a shoplifter in Joplin Sunday night.
That happened around 8 p.m at the Dave’s Mini-Mart at 8th and Maiden Lane when the suspect picked up several items and walked out. 55-year-old Harold Ray of Joplin confronted the alleged thief, identified as 39-year-old James R. Turnbull of Joplin. Ray was stabbed in the stomach, sustaining life threatening injuries.
Turnbull fled the scene and was arrested a short time later at 7th and Maiden Lane by Joplin Police.
Turnbull has been charged with 1st Degree Assault , Armed Criminal Action, and Resisting Arrest.
