Springfield Senior Citizen Dies From Coronavirus

Springfield reports it’s first Coronavirus related death. The victim was a woman in her 80’s that lived in a nursing home.

She was one of the four new confirmed cases at Morningside Springfield-East, an assisted living center located at 3540 East Cherokee. The other three patients are hospitalized.

Her name has not been released.

Springfield-Greene County Health Department Director Clay Goodard says these are the first cases in the county not spread from another known infected person, or related to travel, calling it “community spread”.

This is the second Covid-19 related death in Missouri. The first was a woman in her 30’s in the St. Louis area.
