Coronavirus Scammers Cashing In

Criminals are cashing over your fear of the Coronavirus. Bogus cures, and charities that claim to raise money for research or victims are just the latest way scammers are trying to steal your money.
Health officials say there are no vaccines or medications on the market to treat or prevent the Coronavirus.
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt is pleading with you to use extra caution.
“In any unsettled times, whether it be the aftermath of a devastating storm or in this case the spread of a new virus, there are those who choose to take advantage of the public’s apprehension and uncertainty. With all the discussion and disruption in reaction to COVID-19, Kansans should be particularly vigilant for scammers and should know that our office is here to help if needed.”
Schmidt said his office has received reports of these sorts of scams circulating in Kansas.
If you’ve been duped or approached by someone selling phony products, or pushing a questionable charity, call your state’s attorney general’s Consumer Protection Division.
