Update: Cattle Captured Following Overturned Cattle Truck
UPDATE: As of 8:40 a.m both cattle have been captured. Traffic is still reduced to one lane in each direction on I-44 as emergency crews clear the scene of an overturned cattle truck between Range Line and Main Street.

As of 8:15 a.m, two cows are still on the loose after a cattle truck overturned on westbound I-44 early Wednesday morning during very heavy rainfall.
The crash occurred between Range Line and Main Street, and did not involve any other vehicles. The driver was not injured.Traffic is still reduced to one lane in each direction as emergency crews clean up the scene.The semi is in the median.

Joplin Police Chief Sloan Rowland tells News Talk KZRG exclusively that there were 109 head of cattle on board. Most of the cattle are now deceased or badly injured. A veterinarian is assisting the Highway Patrol.
Two cows are on the loose on the south side of I-44. One employee at AT&T said they saw one of the cows running through their parking lot.
