Carthage Square Wrong-Way Driver Sentenced To Prison

The woman that led police on a chase and drove the wrong way on the Carthage Square, including the sidewalk in late January is going to prison for the next two years.

26-year-old Breshia Rachelle Grosso of Webb City was on probation at the time for a drug charge. She pleaded guilty in late February to felony resisting arrest.Careless and imprudent driving charges were dropped as part of a plea deal in Jasper County Court.

She’ll serve her sentence concurrently with a four-year sentence on the original drug conviction.

According to the probable cause statement, on the afternoon of January 22nd, Joplin Police pursued Grosso into Carthage. Carthage Police took over the pursuit, deploying spike strips, but they were ineffective. Grosso continued to lead officers through the city at speeds up to 60 mph in 30 mph zones.

Grosso then circled the Carthage Square in the opposite direction on one-way streets, jumping the curb and driving on the sidewalk. She was taken into custody after she got several flat tires due to hitting the curb.
