Carthage Tech Center Students Building Tiny House

Students at the Carthage Tech Center are building a tiny house!
Once the 288 sqft- 12 x 24- tiny house is completed, it’ll be auctioned off. It’ll be complete with instant hot water, full size shower, a kitchenette, room for a stackable washer and dryer, and a covered front porch.
Carpentry instructor Nathan Olinger says the project will allow his students to gain real-world experiences, and the skills and knowledge needed to construct a house.“I personally think this is a budget friendly way to start these students into the wonderful world of construction. The tiny homes give an almost step-by-step equivalent of building a residential house. I’m very excited about this project and future possibilities.”
CTC Director Dr. Holley Goodnight is thrilled to add this project to the carpentry curriculum. “This project will allow students to be involved in every phase of the construction process and gain additional skills in areas such as electricity and plumbing, which they will use throughout their life. I can’t wait to watch them throughout the building process and see the finished product.”
Carthage Lowe’s is partnering to provide all of the materials.
