I-49 To Receive Overhaul; Work Starts In March
Barton/Jasper Counties – You can expect lane closures and traffic delays when MoDOT begins resurfacing a 30 mile stretch of Interstate 49 in Barton and Jasper counties beginning the week of March 2nd.
The nearly $11 million overhaul will include new asphalt, guardrails and shoulders in some areas, plus rumble strips and pavement striping between Lamar and I-44 near Carthage along I-49.
Crews will work during daytime hours between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction at all times. All lanes of traffic will be open during nighttime hours.
Signs and message boards will be set up near the work zone. Please slow down and use caution.
The project is estimated to be finished by November 1, 2020. Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.
Blevins Asphalt Construction Co. of Mt. Vernon was contracted for the job.
