Police Looking For School Zone Violators

Slow down in school zones!

Over the next two weeks, law enforcement agencies in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma are increasing patrols near schools to raise awareness of roadway safety. The enforcement campaign will run from February 24 thru March 6.

Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves tells News Talk KZRG it’s about saving lives.

“With motor vehicle crashes being the leading cause of death for teens between the ages of 15-18, it’s important we focus on encouraging safe practices such as buckling up and leaving the phone alone while driving.”

During the enforcement campaign, officers will be actively looking for, and issuing citations for speeding, texting behind the wheel, or failing to buckle up.
