High hacking risk for most Kansas county websites

Kansas county websites may be at risk because the lack of basic protocols make them easy for hackers to impersonate.

Only eight of 105 counties have websites that end in dot gov…. that only govt. officials can control.

Also….  60 of the  URLs start with http instead of the more secure https.

Computer tech experts say local governments have become frequent targets for cyberattacks.

The term “hacker” dates back to the 1970s.

In 1980, an article in Psychology Today used the term “hacker” in its title: “The Hacker Papers,” which discussed the addictive nature of computer use.
