Bill Filed To Test For Medical Marijuana
A new bill filed by Missouri Senator David Sater of Cassville would give employers the right to randomly drug test their employees and potentially fire them if a drug test shows marijuana (THC) in their system, even if they have a medical marijuana card.
Senate Bill 610 would allow employers to test prospective employees for medical marijuana, as well.
Some lawmakers believe the bill is crucial in preparing for future marijuana legislation since a petition to legalize the drug for recreational use has been proposed for the ballot.
If passed, the bill would also allow employers to ban medical marijuana at their business.
Sater filed a similar bill, SB 227, in 2019, but it failed to get enough support.
