Boys rescued early Sunday morning after their boat capsizes
The call came in around 1 a.m. this morning to the McDonald County E-911 Center.
Four boys who had been “gigging” on Elk River were stranded after their boat capsized near the Oklahoma-Missouri state line.
The Tiff City Fire Department was dispatched along with the Sheriff’s Office rescue boat and the Missouri State Highway Patrol rescue boat.
The Fire Department gained access to the river through a private property after contacting a land owner. They located the boys on the opposite side of the river.
Sheriff’s Office deputies standing by at Cowskin Conservation Park went downstream by boat to rescue the four.
The boys were found cold and shaken but otherwise O.K., according to McDonald County Sheriff Michael Hall.
He expresses his thanks to the emergency personnel who took part in the rescue.
