One man dead following stabbing in Joplin

A man is dead following a stabbing in Joplin Saturday night.

Joplin Police Sgt. John Isenmann says the incident began when one man went to a neighbor’s home at 829 S. New Hampshire Ave. and tried to force entry by kicking in the door. He left briefly and then came back.

The resident of the home responded by stabbing him.

“The man went back to his own house where we located him and transported him to Mercy Hospital where he expired,” Isenmann said.

The man who died has been identified as Jonas Bartholomew.

The investigation remains in progress.
