Alleged Drunk Driver In Serious Condition After Driving Off A Cliff

An alleged drunk driver is in serious condition after driving off of a cliff on Highway 71 at Jane in McDonald County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells News Talk KZRG 58-year-old Joe Bennefield of Noel went off the cliff in his Jeep Wrangler, and became airborne before crashing into the ground around 10:30 Thursday night.

He was cited with DWI, careless and imprudent driving, and for not wearing a seatbelt.

Bennefield was transported to a Joplin hospital in serious condition.
