Everglades python hunt yields 80
Only 99,920 to go . . . .

That hunt is over.
A total of 80 Burmese pythons were caught.
Grand Prize Winner Mike Kimmel won an ATV for bagging eight.
The snakes can grow to 20 feet long. They’re all descended from pets released into the wild.
Animal experts estimate there are 100,000 pythons in the Everglades, with virtually no natural enemies other than human beings and the occasional alligator.
Smithsonian Magazine reports that the snakes are responsible for over a 90 percent drop in small, warm-blooded animals which the snakes consume including marsh rabbits, raccoons and opossums.
