Tulsa man arrested for DWI after hit JPD patrol car

A man from Tulsa is facing DWI charges after fleeing the scene after he hit a Joplin Police car that was performing a traffic stop. Read the full press release below:

On January 11th, 2020, a Joplin Police Officer conducted a vehicle stop on westbound I-44 mile marker 7.0 at 8:44 P.M. While conducting the vehicle stop, a silver SUV hit his patrol vehicle. The officer was not injured in the crash. The SUV fled from the crash. The officer was able to give a description of the vehicle to responding officers. The vehicle was later located, and the driver taken into custody with the assistance of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office for driving while intoxicated.

Andrew Silcott, 33 years old of Tulsa, OK, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated. The Joplin Police vehicle sustained heavy damage along with the suspect vehicle. Thanks to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.
