High Speed Chase Through Southeast Kansas Ends With Two In Custody
A high speed chase in southeast Kansas ended with two in custody. It all began around 4 o’clock Monday afternoon when the Highway Patrol initiated a car chase on Highway 169 near Coffeyville. The driver, 21-year-old James Allen of Kansas City, Missouri fled through Montgomery County into Labette County, dodging two sets of spike strips before running over spikes on Highway 59. Allen was arrested on charges including drug possession and having a gun. The passenger, 21-year-old Jessica Myers, of Coffeyville was also taken into custody, but she has since been released.

On 12/30/2019 at 3:57 p.m. the Kansas Highway Patrol initiated a car case with a 2019 Silver Ford hatchback in Montgomery Co. east of Coffeyville Ks. on Hwy 169. At 4:01 p.m. K.H.P. continued the chase into Labette Co. on 160 Hwy. During the chase the individual was able to maneuver around two sets of spike strips, one set west of Altamont and one set east of Altamont.
The chase ended at approximately mile post 14 just west of Oswego, on 59 hwy when the driver drove over at set of spike strips. Once the vehicle was stopped, the occupants were removed from the vehicle. The driver was identified as James Allen 21, of Kansas City Mo. The passenger was identified as Jessica Myers 21, from Coffeyville Ks. James Allen was arrested for Attempting to elude, Possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a firearm. Jessica Myers was later released. During the chase the following law enforcement agencies were involved. Kansas Highway Patrol, Montgomery Co. Sheriff’s Office, Altamont Police Dept., Oswego Police Dept. and the Labette Co. Sheriff’s Office.
