Neosho robber identified
On 12/15/2019 at approximately 1:39 PM Neosho Officers were dispatched to 201 N Neosho
Blvd, the Family Market Grocery Store, in reference to an armed robbery in progress.
The suspect entered the store, pointed a handgun at the cash register clerk, demanded
everything in the drawer, and fled the store on foot, going south. Witnesses stated the suspect
ran about a block, and got into a black Volkswagen passenger car, and they were able to
provide a partial license plate number. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and
checks.
Officers got the suspect and vehicle description information out to other local law enforcement
agencies in the area quickly as possible.
A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper assigned to the Newton County area spotted a vehicle
matching the description of the suspect vehicle in Granby, MO. Contact was made with the
driver, and that driver was identified as a 60-year-old male, from Granby, MO, whose name is
being withheld pending formal charges.
During the investigation officers learned the vehicle being driven was stolen from a family
member, clothing matching what was worn during the robbery, a gun, and cash was located in
the vehicle.
The male suspect was booked into the Newton County Jail and the police department will be
requesting formal charges with the Newton County Prosecutors Officer for Armed Robbery 1st
degree, armed criminal action, and Tampering with a motor vehicle 1st degree.
On 12-16-2019 the Newton County Prosecutors Office filed the following formal charges on
Ricky J Collinsworth DOB 10/10/1959 (Age 60) from Granby, MO. Mr. Collinsworth is currently
being held without bail.
The formal charges filed are as follows:
1. Robbery 1st Degree
2. Armed Criminal Action
3. Tampering with a motor vehicle 1st degree
4. Unlawful Possession of a firearm
