Joplin’s Annual Tree Lighting At Spiva Park Tonight!
The City of Joplin kicks off the Christmas season with their annual tree lighting at Spiva Park in downtown Joplin tonight, hosted by the Joplin Convention & Visitors Bureau, Joplin Parks and Recreation, and the Downtown Joplin Alliance!
Main Street shuts down between 2nd and 7th at 5 o’clock.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m., with Parks and Recreation staff hosting crafts for the kids at Spiva Park. Enjoy holiday music, cookies, and cocoa while waiting for Santa’s arrival at 5:30.
Joplin Parks and Recreation will light up downtown with the Annual Spiva Park Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. This will include a special performance by Karen’s Dance Studio.
At 6:30 p.m., the holiday classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, will be playing near City Hall! Gather near the big screen for a holiday classic. Courtesy of Arvest, popcorn will be available!
Throughout the night, you’re invited to be an official judge in the 2019 Holiday Window Competition. Downtown businesses are vying for the titles of, “Most Humorous,” “Most Festive,” and “Most Lights.” Have your say in who should win a trophy by picking up a ballot at Spiva Park, viewing each window display, and dropping your votes off in the lobby of City Hall. Completed ballots will be entered into a prize drawing from the Downtown Joplin Alliance.
Once at City Hall, Joplin CVB will have cocoa and cupcakes ready for you!
