Liberty Utilities spreads cheer with Christmas Elves program
Since 1987, employees and customers of Liberty Utilities provide holiday cheer through the Christmas Elves program by purchasing gifts for elderly customers who spend the holidays alone.
Liberty works with local, non-profit organizations to identify area residents for the program and to help distribute gifts.
This year, nearly 200 elderly friends and neighbors will rely upon a generous Christmas Elf to deliver a little holiday cheer into their lives.
To become a Christmas Elf, simply visit the Liberty Utilities office at 602 S. Joplin Ave., Joplin, Mo., beginning Monday, November 25. Select the name and wish list of an elderly neighbor, fill all or part of their list, and return the wrapped gifts to the Joplin office by Wednesday, Dec. 11.
The gifts will be delivered to the recipients before Christmas.
Wish lists are often quite simple and include items such as gloves, socks and slippers, blankets, stationery and stamps, pet food and supplies, and non-perishable food items.
Elves are asked to limit the size and weight of boxes – large or heavy boxes can be difficult for both volunteers and recipients to handle.
Those who may not have time to do the shopping but wish to contribute can donate by visiting the Elf Desk at the Joplin office at 602. S Joplin Ave. or mail donation funds to:
