Freeman Helping Local Seniors Enroll In Medicare
Trained volunteers will help enroll area seniors in Medicare with no pressure to buy extra insurance policies.
CLAIM, a statewide health insurance assistance program, provides the manpower to help individuals with what can be a very confusing process. On Tuesday, November 19 at the Freeman Business Center, Medicare participants can check their coverage, compare plans and in many cases lower their costs with enrollment help from the unbiased health-insurance counselors.
Earlier this month, Freeman hosted a Medicare enrollment event which helped sixty individuals with enrollment. That demand prompted a second session scheduled for 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Tuesday, November 19. CLAIM counselors will help walk-in participants but you can also schedule an appointment by calling 417.347.5837.
“CLAIM volunteers have answers and an understanding of the Medicare enrollment that we could not get from federal Medicare workers,” said Jamie Gillmore, Freeman Senior & Volunteer Services Coordinator. She added, “Some participants are saving up to $1200 with help from CLAIM volunteers. And those who don’t save that much are saying how grateful they are for the enrollment help.”
Enrollment is open now and runs through December 7. Missourians with Medicare, caregivers, and professionals who have concerns or questions can also call CLAIM’s toll – free helpline, 1.800.390.3330.
