A deer hunter was killed in a freak incident in north-central Arkansas’ Marion County.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says 66-year-old Thomas Alexander was attacked by the buck that he had just shot after approaching it, and it was apparently not dead. The man was hunting near Yellville.
Alexander managed to call his family for help, who then called 911. He was found covered in puncture wounds, but died at the hospital.
Officials with the Game and Fish Commission recommend leaving the animal alone for about a half an hour before approaching to make sure it’s deceased.
