“Mega” Abortion Clinic To Open Across The River From St. Louis

An abortion clinic that was secretly built just across the river from St. Louis in Illinois to detour the state’s political climate will open this week.

Planned Parenthood says Wednesday is the big day for its new “Mega Clinic” in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

The18,000-square-foot facility will provide surgical and medication abortions, family planning services, annual exams, STD testing and HIV prevention.

The site of the new clinic was carefully chosen as Missouri is in the midst of a legal battle over abortion, and more and more conservative states continue to pass abortion restrictions.

Construction began last year, but the details weren’t released until just a few weeks ago to avoid protesters and potential construction delays.

Planned Parenthood officials say Illinois is well-positioned to serve as a health care hub for the region.
