Charlie’s Chicken Robber Sentenced
The man the robbed the Charlie’s Chicken in Joplin will be going away for the next 15 years. 20-year-old Payton Clemons of Webb City took a plea deal this week in the April 2018 case.
You’ll remember the manager was robbed at gunpoint by a masked man as she was walking to her car after closing with the deposit bag full of cash. The suspect fled on foot into the neighborhood to the south of the restaurant and was not captured for a couple of weeks.
Clemons was facing 30 years in prison under a first-degree robbery charge, but was able to plea down to second-degree robbery.
