Tragedy in Parsons, Kansas. A father and daughter are dead following a murder-suicide. The man is also suspected of shooting another man.
It all happened around 10:45 Sunday night when Parsons Police received a call of shots fired in the 1700 block of Chess. Joshua Bode was found with two gunshot wounds to his face. The search was on for the suspected shooter- Zachary Castorena of Parsons.
Police received a call from the suspect about five minutes later that he was going to commit suicide and kill his 7-year-old daughter. Police burst into Castorena’s home in the 3100 Block of Corning Ave where they found the girl and her father shot in the head. The child was airlifted to a Springfield hospital where she died early Monday morning just after 3 a.m. Bode is in critical condition. Castorena was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is on-going. Police have not released the connection between Castorena and Bode.
