Missouri Man Flies To California To Set Fires

A man from the Kansas City area is accused of flying to California just to start more than a dozen grass fires in a 24-hour span last weekend near Milpitas.

Police say 68-year-old Freddie Graham of Lone Jack used a rental car to drive around the San Francisco Bay Area to throw flaming pieces of paper from the window onto dry grassy hillsides.

Santa Clara County prosecutors say Graham was arrested while returning the car at San Jose airport after a witness jotted down his license plate.

Graham is facing 15 arson-related charges.

Police believe he has no connections to California and have not yet determined a motive or why he targeted the Bay Area.
