McCormack Positively Identified

It’s official, the body found down a steep embankment next to a suitcase along Highway 59 in late July is Jessica McCormack of Noel.

According to a press release from Sheriff Mike Hall, the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office had only tentatively identified her as they awaited her dental records, but the forensic dentist couldn’t positively identify her either because her teeth were too decayed since she had last seen a dentist. After talking with family and friends, the investigators determined that McCormack had a tattoo and after a re-examination of the body, a tattoo was found on the left wrist, which matched the information they gathered.  With those facts, the sheriff’s office is confident that the deceased woman is that of Jessica McCormack.

The man believed to be responsible for her death, Mahamud “Tito” Mahamed, is still on the run. He was McCormack’s partner, and the father of one of her children. He was charged with kidnapping after her three kids were found safe in Iowa with the former co-worker of  Mahamed. If you have any information, call the McDonald County Sheriff Office at 417-223-4318.
