Girlfriend Injured When Boyfriend Crashes Fleeing Police

The woman who was a passenger in a car involved in a high speed chase Sunday night is in serious condition after the driver, Justin Foster, wrapped his car around a tree when he ran off the road at a sharp curve in Barton County at more than 100 mph.

The suspect’s girlfriend, 33-year-old Veronica Chavez of Lamar is recovering at a Joplin hospital. Foster, who has a revoked license, was not injured. He’s been charged with second degree assault with a motor vehicle, careless and imprudent driving among a slew of other charges.
