Supporters rally for Medicaid in Joplin, other cities
An estimated 130,000 Missourians have been abruptly dropped from Medicaid since early 2018.
The group “Missouri Healthcare for All” are holding rallies in six Missouri cities today, including 7th and Range Line Joplin.
We’re hoping [Missouri Gov. Mike Parson] can get with Missouri HealthNet Division Director Todd Richardson and the rest of his administration to address these systemic issues that are happening within the Medicaid system,” says K.J. McDonald of Missouri Healthcare for All.
McDonald says many of those who have been dropped didn’t find out about it until they sought medical care:
“Many of them would go to the doctor for an appointment or take their children in for an appointment and be told there at the doctor’s office they would no longer have Medicaid,” she states.
