Lamar Fire Chief Passes Away Following Long Illness

The public servant that dedicated his life to Lamar for nearly a half century has passed away. Fire Chief Larry Beatty passed away Tuesday morning after a long battle with cancer at the age of 67.

Beatty started his career with the Lamar Police Department in 1971. Over the years Beatty has served the Barton County Sheriff’s Department, Barton County Ambulance District, as well as the Lamar Fire Department.

There will be a celebration of life in the basement of Lamar Memorial Hall this Saturday from 10 a.m till 3 p.m.

Beatty’s family asks that you make a contribution to the Lamar Fire Department in his remembrance in lieu of flowers.
