JPD investigating death of 87-year-old woman

Joplin Police are investigating the death of an elderly woman. Read the full press release below:

On August 19th, 2019 at approximately 4:20 P.M., a Joplin Police Officer responded to Freeman Hospital on a report of possibly elderly abuse/neglect. Upon arrival the officer contacted a representative of Health and Senior Services who stated that an elderly female 87 years of age had been admitted to the hospital with injuries.

On August 20th, 2019 at approximately 7:10 A.M. the elderly female died. An autopsy has been scheduled for August 21st, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. The death investigation is ongoing.
