Joplin Globe Editor Carol Stark Passes After Long Battle With Cancer
After a long battle with cancer, Joplin Globe Executive Editor Carol Stark has passed away at the age of 61. Stark died Wednesday at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
According to the Joplin Globe, Stark began her journalism career in 1977 at the age of 18 at the Carthage Press. She joined the Globe in 1983. She was then named executive editor in 2007, becoming the first woman in the newspaper’s 123-year history to hold that position.
Stark was past president of the Missouri Press Association and will be inducted into the organization’s Newspaper Hall of Fame in September.
Services are pending.
Rest in peace, Carol. Our thoughts and prayers are with Carol’s family and everyone at the Joplin Globe.
