Attempted Copper Thief Shot At Tulsa Church
A would-be copper thief was shot in the stomach early Thursday morning by a member of a Tulsa church where the suspect was on the roof trying to rip out copper wiring.
The police were called about an alleged theft just the night before at North Sheridan Church of Christ, but found no one.
Police were even called to the North Sheridan Church of Christ the night before when church members heard someone on the roof, but the person was already gone when police arrived. The church has had several copper thefts in recent weeks.
Some members remained at the church overnight and told officers they heard someone on the roof about 4 a.m. Thursday morning, and confronted the man before one member shot him in the stomach.
The man’s name and his condition has not released.
