Man Given 100 Days In Jail For Running Over Springfield Bicyclist

100 days in jail for a man that killed a bicyclist while going nearly three times the speed limit. Donald Bailey was driving 93 in a 35 mph zone when he hit 27-year-old Darion Sands at a Springfield intersection in January 2016.

27-year-old Donald Bailey was sentenced Friday for involuntary manslaughter by Judge David Jones.

Assistant Greene County Prosecutor Emily Shook said Bailey initially lied to police by telling them he was speeding because someone was chasing him with a gun.

Bailey also was sentenced to five years of probation and 60 hours of community service.

Bailey apologized to Sands’ family and said he thinks about the crash every day.
