Armed Man At Springfield Walmart Identified
The 20-year-old man who walked into a Walmart store in Springfield Thursday night inciting panic by wearing body armor, carrying a “tactical rifle”, another gun, and more than 100 rounds of ammunition has been charged with 1st degree making a terrorist threat.
The suspect, identified as Dmitriy Andreychenko, was seen recording the incident on his cell phone.
A Walmart employee pulled a fire alarm, causing scared shoppers to flee the store.
Andreychenko tried to leave through an emergency exit, but was held at gunpoint by a retired firefighter.
Lt. Mike Luca, who was at the scene, said “[Andreychenko’s] intent obviously was to cause chaos here, and he did that.”
No shots were ever fired.
The incident happened five days after a mass shooting at an El Paso, Texas Walmart left 22 people dead.
