Two arrested for burglary in Pittsburg

Two men were arrested after a burglary in Pittsburg. Read the full press release below:
On Friday morning at 7:04 a.m., Officers of the Pittsburg Police Department were called to the 300 block of South Elm Street in reference to a possible residential burglary.
According to the caller, two individuals were observed entering a vacant residence in the 300 block of South Elm, then exiting a short time later carrying property. After leaving the residence the subjects then carried the items to another location across from the empty residence and stashed the items in an overgrown area. The caller provided a detailed description of the subjects involved, and their direction or travel away from the area.
A short time later, Officers found the two subjects walking near the area of 4th and Elm Street. Officers detained these subjects while other officers responded to the area of the initial call and recovered the stolen items where they were hidden. As a result of the investigation, the following subjects were arrested as follows:
Caleb Anthony Merriman, 25, of Ft. Scott, charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft.
Daniel James Mashek, 26, of Pittsburg, charged with one count of burglary, one count of theft and one count of felony obstruction.
Both are being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time.
