Joplin Pools Will Begin Closing Sunday

Joplin’s city pools will start closing up this weekend. Ewert’s pool at 7th and Murphy will close on Sunday. Schifferdecker will close up next Sunday, August 11th, and Cunningham will remain open only on the weekends until Labor Day.

The City of Joplin’s three aquatic centers will begin closing for the summer on a staggered schedule beginning Sunday, August 4 th .

Jessica Johnson with the Joplin Parks & Rec Dept. tells News Talk KZRG “Back-to-school season is a challenging time for us staffing-wise with most of our staff returning to high school and college. We stagger the pools’ closing schedule to accommodate patrons as long as safely possible.”

Ewert Aquatic Center, located at 7th & Murphy Blvd., will close for the season on August 4th .

Schifferdecker Aquatic Center, located at 4th & Schifferdecker, will be open 7 days a week until August 11th. Schifferdecker will feature extended hours on Friday, August 2 and Friday, August 9 from 1-8pm.

Cunningham Aquatic Center, located at 26th & Maiden Lane, will be open weekends only from August 3rd until Labor Day, September 2nd. Cunningham will feature extended Saturday hours from 1-8pm.
