Three arrested with guns, drugs in Lamar

Three men were taken into custody after they were found in possession of illegal drugs and unlawfully possessing a weapon. Read the full press release below:

On Thursday, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office received information from the O.D.E.T. drug task force about a subject who was allegedly in possession of illegal controlled substance at a residence in Barton County. The Barton County Sheriff’s office filled out an affidavit on the information received from the O.D.E.T. Detective. The court granted a search warrant for the property.

At 8:50 p.m. deputies of the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Officer’s from the Lamar Police Department, a city of Jasper Police Officer and Detective’s from the O.D.E.T Drug Task Force executed the warrant at 494 NE 50th Ln in Barton County.

Three people where detained as a result of locating illegal controlled substance,drug paraphernalia, and firearms. Those three where transported to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office and placed on a 24 hour hold for investigation.

The three subjects arrested were Howard Alan Morris, age 46, of Lamar. Brandon Joseph Huckaby, age 35, of Joplin, and Ryan D. Braker, age 37, of Sheldon.

On Friday, the Barton County Prosecutor filed criminal charges against the three.

Morris is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Huckaby is charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.

Braker is charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.

All three subjects are being held in the Barton County Jail on a $100,000 dollar cash or surety bond set by Judge James Nichols.
