Duenweg Fire Chief dies after sudden illness

Jack “Allyn” Reding, age 63, of Duenweg passed away on Friday July 5, 2019 at Freeman Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Reding was born on February 23, 1956 in Joplin the son of Jack D. and June (Cossey) Reding. He has been a lifetime resident of Duenweg. He graduated from Parkwood High School in 1974. He married his high school sweetheart, Mona VanFleet on June 6, 1975 in Duenweg.

Allyn began his working career at Atlas Powder Company where he worked for twenty-five years. He was dedicated to his community. He became a member of the Duenweg Volunteer Fire Department when he was a teenager. In 1998 he became the Chief of the Duenweg Volunteer Fire Department. He spent many years training and teaching others to be the best firefighters that they could be. He was a member of the Ozark Gateway Fire Chiefs Association and the Jasco Board.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at LifePoint Pentecostal Church.Burial will be in Belfast Cemetery, near Neosho, MO.

The visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Life Point Church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Chief Allyn Reding Memorial Firefighting Training Fund in care of the mortuary.
