Sunday night standoff in Royal Heights leads to arrest

A standoff in Royal Heights in Joplin Sunday night led to the arrest of a Webb City man.

Joplin Police were dispatched to the area of Florida Ave & Salem Ave Sunday evening (6/23/19) about a suspicious vehicle.

The caller reported that an unknown male had almost struck her house with a vehicle, then fled on foot. Upon arrival, officers discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of St. Louis County.

Officers learned the suspect listed in the vehicle theft was Brandon Hixon, of Webb City.

Hixon, who had a felony warrant for his arrest, was observed inside a residence 2429 E. Salem Ave.

The residence was surrounded but Hixon refused to surrender. A search warrant was obtained, and the house surrounded by JPD SWAT. After several hours Hixon, surrendered without further incident.

Hixon was served with his felony warrant and charged with tampering 1st Degree with Motor Vehicle and felony resisting arrest.
