Man dies after attempting to save woman from drowning in Elk River

A man from Wichita drowned after he tried to save a woman from drowning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Jacob Farley dove downstream into the swollen Elk River Friday to save a woman being swept away. It happened below the low head dam at Noel where firemen were able to rescue the woman with a rope. Unfortunately, Farley did not resurface. This is the highway patrol’s fourth drowning this year.
