Sheriff Fires Political Opponent
Is a southeast Missouri sheriff taking out his competition by firing them? Scott County Deputy Carl Rose of Sikeston thinks so. Rose is running against Sheriff Wes Drury for sheriff next year. He was actually the department’s 2018 employee of the year, and believes he was fired for political reasons.
Sheriff Drury says the political race was not a factor in his decision to fire Rose, noting candidates don’t officially file for election until February. He went on to say he couldn’t comment on the reasons for the firing because it is a personnel issue.
