Freeman Health System celebrates Flag Day

The sight of a US Marine raising the American Flag on Flag Day is a special one. Today Freeman Health System celebrated their new Flag garden at Freeman Hospital West.

The circular design in the concrete mirrors the design of the Beacon of Hope Tornado Memorial, which honors the heroic efforts exhibited following the May 22, 2011, tornado. Freeman groundskeepers designed and installed the landscaping.

The flag was raised by a member of the United States Marines recruitment office in Joplin with help from an employee and US Army veteran that is currently working at Freeman.

The  Flag raising was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance recited by all in attendance, followed by a prayer and a speech by Freeman CFO Steve Graddy.
