16 arrested in SEK drug investigation
“Operation Street Sweeper” nets 16 arrests. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the Chanute Police Department, and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office made those arrests Thursday following a two-month long joint investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs in southeast Kansas. The subjects were booked into the Neosho County and Allen County Jails for drug-related crimes including the suspected distribution of methamphetamine, and the possession of controlled substances. Criminal complaints have been filed against the suspects in Neosho County District Court. Every defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

The joint operation represented a coordinated law enforcement effort to combat drug violence and reduce the accessibility of illegal drugs affecting southeast Kansas. This investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
