Middle school and high school students are welcome to register for the Teen Summer Challenge, the teen portion of the library’s Summer Reading Program. Registration is open to youth entering 6th grade this fall through 2019 high school graduates. In-person registration begins Tues., May 28.

Print out or pick up a game board–the path to fun and swag–at registration. Track reading time and activities listed on the board to complete it. Turn in up to 3 completed game boards for a chance to win prizes along the way or in the Spacetacular Prize Drawing at the end of summer.

This year’s theme is space, and we’re celebrating, galactic style, with games, crafts, movies, art, books, LEGOs, sewing, anime, tie dye, and more! Details are available on the game board and on the website at

Adults 18 or older may register online for JPL’s Summer Reading Program beginning on May 21. Registration in-person starts on May 28. Game Boards will be available to keep track of reading progress, and will list events taking place over the course of the summer. Completed game boards can be submitted to enter a chance to win one of our grand prizes and other, smaller prizes.

All programs will be related to this year’s theme of “Universe of Stories”. There will be guest speakers, a virtual tour of a space museum, an opportunity to participate in a book discussion, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, a trivia night to test your knowledge of all things space-related, and more.
