Pittsburg man arrested for indecent solicitation of a child

On May 13, Law Enforcement Officers of the Pittsburg Police Department received a report concerning inappropriate interactions between an adult male suspect and a 13-year-old juvenile male, during which the adult male reportedly presented and showed pornography to the juvenile in a directed manner.

Investigators began following up on this incident and located evidence indicating this contact had occurred on April 30. Investigators also developed information indicating that in June, 2018, this same adult male suspect had also persuaded a 14-year-old juvenile male to submit to an unlawful sex act while in his presence. Investigators developed further information indicating that in 2016 through 2018 this same adult male suspect had been furnishing alcoholic beverages to juvenile males who were 15 and 16 years of age.

On Wednesday, investigators made a probable cause arrest on the suspect, who is identified as 38-year-old Scott A. Free. Investigators determined the suspect and the victims knew each other, and that these were targeted actions and not random incidents. Mr. Free was arrested on one count of indecent solicitation of a child, one count of promoting obscenity to minors, and two counts of unlawfully hosting minors consuming alcoholic beverages.

Free was taken to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking. He was later released after posting a $10,000 bond.
